OH! *#% flash drive

Have you ever noticed that most all of the USB drives around look the same? Flash drives tend to be about the same size and being the same as others is a big problem with many computer users. Just look at all the Mac heads if you need proof of the need to be different. If you want to mess with a few people and get a flash drive that looks different at the same time Fred & Friends has the storage device.

The little gizmo is called Hacked! The OH!*#% Flash Drive. It looks like a normal USB cable that has been cut and frayed, but has 2GB of storage inside. To those around you they will either think you had something stolen from your computer or walked off while your printer was plugged in and ripped the cable in half, sort of like grandma did with the gas pump that time. Put one of these drives and the DIY keyboard key flash drives in your machine and you will get some weird looks.

Marketing Scam

“You’ve probably seen the video above where people put cellphones around popcorn kernels and pop them by making a call. Turns out that it’s a slightly disingenuous video by Cardo, a Blutooth headset manufacturer, in order to scare people into thinking that cellphones have that much radiation and they really need a headset. The viral video sure did raise awareness for the brand, but there are better ways of selling your products than to try and scare your customers into thinking they need it.”

New Sprint Samsung Instinct

One ultra-glossy phone plus a dozen or so overly ornate chandeliers is a recipe for video disaster, and indeed, we managed to capture the beautiful outline of said chandeliers in far more detail than we ever intended here. It’s the price we pay for demanding mirror-finish touchscreens, we guess, but we think we still managed to convey a fair bit about the Instinct’s distinctive user interface here. First of all, it wasn’t nearly as snappy as we’d have liked it to be, but the phone’s not hitting retail for a couple months yet so we’ll cut ‘em some slack while they’re ironing out the final kinks in the firmware. The web navigation gestures were a little choppy, too, though we appreciated the dedicated “birdseye” key that zooms out so the entire page can be seen at once; a red box indicated where you’ll be when you zoom back in. Bottom line? We get the impression that Samsung’s delivering form over function here, but hey, for a good number of us, that’s a sacrifice we’re willing to make.

Aloisson iPhone Costs $176K, Your Dignity

iphonethesediamondsareaslgsbestfriend-gi.jpg
As a rule, stuff that retails for $499 should not be embellished with 17.75 carats of diamonds, set in 18k white gold and then priced at $176,400. Nonetheless, Peter Aloisson has done exactly that to create the Aloisson designed iPhone. The treatment makes it the most expensive iPhone in the handset’s relatively short history. That’s great and all, but even if you do have more money than I have vacant aerial hair follicles, don’t do it—save your dignity. Paris! Save your dig—hmm, that’d be a pointless plea. Catch another shot after the jump.
